Randolph's Landing, Manning,
S.C. Sept. 23, 2007- Randolph's
Landing's Nick and Lena Lucas, in keeping with tradition, held the
25th Annual 2007 National Championship Catfish Tournament,
September 22nd & 23rd. Anglers came from as far away as New
York, Ohio, Maryland, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina and Florida.
Over 100 teams pre-registered with 71 teams blasting off AT 7:30 A.M. for the
fall tournament.
The weather was warm with temperatures reaching into the 90's
Saturday afternoon and overcast with threatening clouds and variable
winds. Waterspouts were reported being seen in Lake Moultrie. Water
temperatures were 78 F degrees. The lake was clear and water levels
were 6 foot below normal. While the low lake levels kept some from
competing, worried about damages to their boat and engines, no
damages to tournament boats were reported and many caught more
catfish then they ever have, especially the flatheads.
The Tackle Shop opened
at 5 a.m. to accommodate the fishermen. Randolph's Restaurant served
hungry appetites favorites opening up before sunrise. "Chop Chop"
cooked up a fabulous pork bbq with cole slaw that many enjoyed.
